The Brick Tower
The History of the Tower of London is great, bloody and cruel and the Brick Tower has its part to play in its story. Brick Tower is just one of the 21 towers which, together, form the Tower of London castle complex. The Tower of London covers an area of 18 acres and its magnificent architecture covers almost all the styles which have flourished in England.   • The Brick Tower was built by King Henry III
  • The date the Brick Tower was built was between 1238 - 1272

  • History - Sir Walter Raleigh (1552-1618) was briefly imprisoned in the Brick Tower in 1592, when he offended the vain Queen Elizabeth by marrying Elizabeth Throckmorton, a maid of honor, without permission. He was released later that year. He met his real downfall upon the accession of James I in 1603. He was found guilty of intrigues with Spain against England and of participation in a plot to kill the king and enthrone Arabella Stuart, grand daughter of Bess Of Hardwick. He was finally released again in 1616 to make another voyage to the Orinoco in search of gold. He was arrested upon his return and executed on a charge of conspiring with the Spanish
